Article19 has been quiet for a long time and there are reasons for that but during that time we have still been making videos and shooting lots of dance and we will be publishing a lot of that material in the coming weeks.
Our latest video is from Panta Rei Danseteater is a short feature about their new Work ‘En Som’ (‘Born to Live’ in English). It’s a work that looks at the very real world social issues of social isolation and loneliness which is very pertinent given the current global situation.
“Young people feel loneliness more intensely and more frequently than any other age group, new research has found. In the UK about 40 percent of people aged 16-24, say they feel lonely often or very often, compared to 29 percent of 65-74 year olds according to a nationwide survey. The findings fly in the face of the stereotypical image of a lonely, elderly person, with some experts suggesting that young people feel loneliness more intensely because they are at a life stage of discovering who they are.
Born to Live is a physical, intimate and dynamic dance performance that both seek to stir emotions and generate exhilaration in the audience. The piece has the audience close up and presents four dynamic dancers that bravely share their own personal encounters with loneliness. The stories are shared with bravery, wit and humour along with impressive physicality. Prepare to be moved!”
