Video - Panta Rei Danseteater 'Lullaby'
Norwegian dance company Panta Rei Danseteater, late last year, conducted a little experiment whereby three dance makers created two pieces with the same name based on the same idea, featuring three male dancers and two musicians, to see what the outcome was.

Let's take a quick sojourn through the news snippets we have building up in the corner gathering a bit of dust shall we!
Dance Theatre Ireland Goes Korean
The company based in Dun Laoghaire, Republic of Ireland often suffer from a severe lack of exposure due to the cost of touring overseas, outside of their native land.
Making a push for a broader audience the company have collaborated with NOW Dance Company from South Korea to make 'Parallel Horizons/Under the Roof.' The company says of this collaboration;
"This cross-cultural collaboration (which has just finished a World premiere & tour in Korea) will open in Ireland, on November 12th and is followed by a nationwide tour. Created in residencies throughout 2008 in both Korea & Ireland, this magical, East meets West, double-bill brings together 8 outstanding dancers (four from each company) and 4 musicians (music is played live).
For a work steeped in the poetic sensitibilities of both cultures and influenced by the nuance of tradition. Two cultures, two traditions, both countries share many common experiences, including cultural psyches which have been shaped by occupation and separation, tradition, rapid economic growth and modernisation."
After premiering initially in South Korea the European premiere will take place next month in Ireland. At present, touring is, sadly, restricted to that country but keep an eye on their website for updates and future touring.
The show premieres on November 12th at the Pavilion Theatre in Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin. We will have a video feature of the work following the premier.
Siobhan Davies Studio
The Siobhan Davies Studio in London are teaming up with Dance 4 to present a short performance/talk season 'nottdance'.
Germany's Thomas Lehmen will be showing off a new work on Friday, October 24th at 7.30pm. Titled 'Heromatik' and commissioned by Dance 4 the work;
"....challenges the conventional way of creating and presenting a piece of work. Instead of focusing on showing a finished piece, for each performance Lehmen creates a new set of possibilities, developing the work under the very eyes of the audience. This is a very personal take on artistic creation, a call to question what it means to be an artist today."
Prior to this performance there will be a number of presentations and discussions by various dance folks including Thomas Lehmen, Rose Fenton and sharings from Lucy Cash, Eduard Gabia and Tabea Martin. Full details on the company's website.
Those crazy kids in London just can't help themselves and will be running out the Dance Umbrella Festival for the millionth time (OK it's the 30th time but still!) in the nations capital.
The festival has been running since October 1st and keeps on trucking until November 8th so there is still plenty of time to catch some of the shows on offer.
A quick glance through the performance schedule reveals a never ending list of choreographic pensioners from Merce Cunningham, through Richard Alston, Mark Morris, Nigel Charnock, Stephen Petronio, Royston Maldoom and Jonathan Burrows.
Some of the shows have since departed the country, we imagine the dance makers need to have a nice lie down and then go vote for John McCain, but we digress.
More info on the Dance Umbrella website which looks like it's older than all of the dance makers taking part - combined! Wake up down there if you please!
