Video - Panta Rei Danseteater 'Lullaby'

Norwegian dance company Panta Rei Danseteater, late last year, conducted a little experiment whereby three dance makers created two pieces with the same name based on the same idea, featuring three male dancers and two musicians, to see what the outcome was.

Summer is fast approaching, dance companies are going to sleep for the duration and most theatre's will usually shut down for a bit to shoo the bats out of the belfry (come again? Ed!) and give the carpets a good shampoo.

So if you're a dancer looking for something to occupy your time Impustanz could be what you are looking for.

The annual festival held in Vienna, Austria will be taking place between 12 July and 12 August with a fun filled programme of dance performances, workshops and 'research' classes! We would speculate however that fun could be short supply in anything to do with 'research'!

For this year the Festival portion of the proceedings plays host to Ballet C De La B., Rosas, Ultima Vez, La La La Human Steps amongst many more. The workshop portion of the gathering is massive with the collective might of dozens of teachers so a quick perusal of the Impulstanz website is in order.

Alongside the main festival is the '8:tension' series for new dance makers although you will certainly need a substantial amount of patience to put up with most of the work that is usually on offer in this part of the festival.

If you want to experience it then the chances are you can find it in Vienna during the four week festival. The classes also take place inside the biggest studio spaces you have ever seen in your life and the weather is, usually, fairly toasty.

Workshops cost about €130 (£80 approx) for a week long series of classes with reductions for dance students and freelance professionals. We recommend you stay for a week but hardier souls may prefer a longer endeavour.

More information on the festival website.
