Laban have announced the winners of the Bonnie Bird Choreography Awards for 2006 of which there is very little we can tell you that is of any practical use.
The awards, which are very modest in nature, provide money to support the chosen few through a period of research development in either choreography or dance writing. The awards are chosen by a panel of
self important arty types trustees including dance makers and other folks.
Without further delay, here are the winners;
New Choreography Award: Sonia Sabri; Shane Shambhu; Adesola Akinleye
International Award: Jenni Kivelä – Finland
North American Award: Aszure Barton - Canada
The press release tells us;
"Upon making their acceptance speeches the winners each expressed their different intentions for the award, including plans to create new work, attending dance conferences and taking time in the studio to explore choreographic ideas."
Sound like an absolute hoot and we're sorry we missed it! (that's sarcasm right? Ed!)
We wish the winners the very best and recommend you spend the prize money on a nice trip to Australia.
