Resolution 2005
It's that time of year again when choreographers from across the country, at least the new ones, get into the studio and start making work in the hope that it will be accepted to Resolution.
Resolution, if you don't know, is the 6 week festival in London for new choreographers at The Place Theatre. Each night has 3 works on stage one after the other (because if you put them all on at the same time that would be silly, Ed!). That way you all share the audience and the publicity to get that audience and it's all a little less stressful for the poor souls taking part.
The festival has 3 parts, First Footing, Aerowaves and the other bit for choreographers who have been to Resolution before. Aerowaves is for overseas choreographers and as long as they don't have funny accents John Ashford, The Place's Director, should be able to understand what they are saying! (full story)
Application is very simple; You just fill in a form and hope for the best since the notion that selection is subjective or in some way based on expert analysis would only have you, our dear readers, rolling about on the floor laughing and there will be non of that, not today in any case.
Another important point to consider is that you do take some financial risk in taking part. If your show doesn't make enough money to cover the theatre rental costs you have to pay the shortfall which is split between the other two companies performing. It's not a huge amount you are risking but if you don't have the cash then you may have to sell your pet horse to the glue factory and that would be unpleasant!
For more information visit their website below or call them on the dog and bone! (that's phone in cockney rhyming slang, not an attractive form of communication to be sure)

Motionhouse, "The Edge"
This is a bit of a low key announcement but it will have to do for the moment. Way wack in June we travelled south to cover "The Edge" by Motionhouse Dance Theatre. This was a large scale, site specific performance at Watergate Bay in Cornwall with about 500 participants and 4 mechanical diggers.
Unforseen circumstances have delayed us bringing you this material. We have included a 5 minute video section and 2 image galleries for you to see which should give you a pretty good idea what the work was all about and the scale of the event.
