The title of this blog, the word Pina, or some other Pina Bausch related statement has appeared as many a facebook status over the past few weeks, my own included.

This is the reason

Wim Wenders film was supposed to be a joint film between Wenders and Bausch, but she died just two days before the first rehearsal shoot, but he decided to carry on and make the film. What resulted is a visually stunning film, that clearly shows the impact Pina had on her dancers and her creative skill. What really stood out for me was that she allowed her dancers to be themselves. She pushed them and she trusted them, and in return they were loyal and gave her their all.

Very beautiful indeed.
