For the longest time we have yearned for a contemporary dance company to create a dance piece about Vampires and finally, finally a company has made our collective dreams come true.

Tees Valley Dance (TVD) have created 'Vampires' over the summer for an October debut in Stockton (which is a real place). The work is aimed at primary school children or those with a mental age of primary school children which means we fit the bill perfectly.

TVD say of the work; "The dance piece has been made for primary aged pupils and will be a fang-toothed and caped adventure following the lives of three little vampires who decide not to go to sleep in their coffins, as there are many more exciting things to do."

Sadly, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, or more to the point, her alter-ego Sarah Michelle Gellar will not be making an appearance. But you can't have everything!

Also on show will be 'Kick Off', the company's football themed dance piece which premiered this past March.

In addition to the on stage antics of vampires and footballers the company have also been awarded the prestigious 'Jade' fellowship by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation. The fellowship provides assistance to dancer René Pieters for the next two years as he transitions from his dancer/performer phase into the teacher/community dancer phase.

'Vampires' debuts on October 16th at the Arc in Stockton.
