Place Prize Victor Announced

The Latest News || Monday, 2 October, 2006

The Place Prize finally came to an end this past Saturday when Nina Rajarani was announced as the winner by the panel of judges.

Ms Rajarani takes the £25,000 prize, which she can spend on anything she likes. Her company took the prize with 'QUICK' self described as;

"four male dancers and four musicians in business dress convey the hurly burly of modern life in London using the classical Indian dance form Bharatanatyam."

The final announcement follows 10 nights of audience voting on each work with the winner on each night taking away £1,000 in prize money. The audience vote has no bearing on the final outcome however which begs the question, why bother with it other than to give away £10,000 to the choreographer with the most buddies in the very small audience at the Robin Howard Theatre?

The Place Prize will return in two years which gives us plenty of time to come up with even more reasons to make fun of it.
