The world's largest arts festival is once again ready for kick off in the wonderful city of Edinburgh (our editor is Scottish so excuse the rhetoric) from August 5th -27th for 22 days of non stop "art".

The Fringe is not to be confused with the "Edinburgh Festival" which is for large scale companies and runs at the same time.

If you have never been to the Fringe then prepare yourself for art stuffed into every available corner of the city for the duration. It's on the streets, in basements, on top of trees, in churches, houses, wheelie bins, you name it, it's got art in it.

Several years ago the whole thing became overrun with comedians and the same holds true for this years event. Fortunately there is plenty to be had in the way of dance and work from other art forms.

Browsing the Fringe website reveals 91 separate dance performances from the 5th onwards featuring everything from physical theatre to African Dance in copious amounts.

You can book tickets online, make your choices wisely, and then look forward to spending a huge amount of time walking from one venue to the next through a sea of humanity. It is not for the faint hearted.

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe kicks off on Sunday with a parade through Edinburgh.
