Nigel Charnock, dancer, choreographer and theatre director has died at the age of 52. Mr Charnock passed away yesterday (Wednesday) at St Christopher's Hospice in South London he was diagnosed with cancer in June of this year.
A founding member of physical theatre company DV8, Mr Charnock was a prolific creator of work across a wide range of art forms for more than 30 years and was well known and highly regarded in the dance community for his apparently boundless energy and formidable solo performances.
Most recently he created a piece for Louise Lecavalier that received wide acclaim and was recently performed at the International Dance Festival in Birmingham.
A few of Mr Charnock's works are available here on Article19 from Candoco Dance Company and Ludus but the unedited interview below perhaps gives the best insight to the man himself.
