Making a Movie, Again!

The Latest News || Wednesday, 28 March, 2007

Channel 4 Television have announced a partnership with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), the Australian Council for the Arts and MJW Productions, a UK based television production company to commission some new dance films.

Applying could not be easier, well it could be a lot easier but we feel sure you can cope. First of all visit the Channel 4 Producers website, link below, and fill out the online 'Submit Proposal' form. Then send along a copy of some recent dance film work.

It has to be said the the Channel 4 website is one of the worst pieces of information design in the history of all that is the internet so taking a few stiff drinks before hand might be a good idea.

Production costs can vary from £2,000 - £14,000 and run for up to 6 minutes. Films that contain collaboration between UK and Australian artists will be looked upon favourably but don't think putting the word Kangaroo in the title or shooting the film in Adelaide just for the hell of it will get you the cash.

Channel 4 have run this type of proposal before and they are notoriously bad at keeping people up to date with what's happening. The last time they attempted this they ended up with the monumentally bad 4Dance programme which skulked onto the airwaves during the graveyard shift and was never heard from again.
