Lewis Wheeler (closed): Induction!

ok.............boring induction mostly - lots of form filling in and lectures about student services - code of conduct etc blah blah blah. Having been through the same routine at 3 other establishments post school I felt immune. But hey, its an essential part of the process.
The afternoon was practical "games" but not really games. SSCD was more imaginative - no name game or chucking soft balls around rubbish. Instead we had to play tableaux (create images with bodys - telephone, taxi, fear, jealousy etc) - which I hadn't done for a couple of years so that was ok. Big lack of leadership in my group - one theatre guy trying to take charge, with good ideas, but other people not comprehending...........big poop.
Then it was play "media" people, we had label less tins and had to 'imagine' what was inside them - we chose magic fairy dust 'woo hoo' not. design a label on flip chart paper - a tagline - a 30s radio commerical and a 30s tv ad and a presentation. Good ideas but too much dwelling on an undeveloped theme - in everyone's case. Then obviously presenting.
My under rehearsed, under prepared group just about survived - my camping up off the magic fairy with happiness dust got a few laughs but then its a character I've been working on for some time now.............lol.
All in all - an average induction. We've got tomorrow - friday - off and we're in on monday with contemporary first thing. However, they have warned us that they're going to 'drip feed' us for the first four weeks so that we can get used to everything. Ah well - at least there will be some dance!!!
Foundation people are the people who I was nervous - see below - of meeting but in the first year its definately not like that. I got on v.well with 4 particular people who all have definate personalities which is great. I've just spent the evening with one of them. We both live in the same block of flats practically over the top of one another. Except that hers is decorated gorgeously and mine's not. But I finally hung my paintings and photos etc today - I didn't make them, the paintings are fantastic abstract expressionist rough pieces (on canvas) by my ex-boyfriend who's just finished a fine art degree and a great photo. Plus the usual posters and prints (all arty stuff). So my room is looking ok.
anyway - have just spent evening with my new v.cool friend who lives below me and have shared nice bottle of a french merlot - so excuse all errors in this post!
thinking too difficult - just wanted to record the v.first day and i'll update you next after a proper days dancing etc.
