Art and education

I have just watched the video of Sir Kenneth Robinson's 2006 speech 'Do schools kill creativity?'. It is posted on Article19, in The Evil Imp's blog.

It reminded me of the day that I had to discuss my choice of degree course with my A level English teacher. I had chosen dance. His response was 'are you sure you want to do that? I mean will it challenge you enough? Your grades are good...'

Luckily I have parents who always support me, and they never raised me to believe one job is more worthy than another, its what makes you happy that is more important. And I also already thought my english teacher was an idiot. So he just confirmed everything my instincts had told me.

But if you ever find your self defending your career choice point them in the direction of Sir Kenneth.

Watch it. And use it

Thanks Evil Imp!
