I've recently got back from Sweden (yey! Stockholm is boring but lovely) and Soon I'm off to New York as well.
I always thought I traveled well, I quite like the feeling of limbo that you get on planes. In-between countries, languages, laws, good food.
Did you know it's actually illegal to carry nice food of planes? If it tastes nice, it's not allowed. Fact.
There is no such thing as traveling quickly on planes, it's a myth...
Even if it's a 2 hour flight, once it's taken an hour and a half to get to the airport and you've waited around for 2 hours, then get on the plain, hang around for an hour at the airport, then, if you're traveling by Ryanair, spending 5 hours on a coach to take you to where you were meant to be flying to, then have to find where you're staying. The smallest trip takes 8 hours!
Nothing is fast, The idea of a weekend break is futile, you can't leave on Friday after work and come back on Monday before work, you would have about half a day of tourism...not really worth it. Most weekend breaks actually end up being kinda just under a week so call it weekend break.
Ryanair have made it impossible to do anything fast by dropping you in an airport in the middle of nowhere, with a bad back and a slight grin on your face from the ridiculous congratulatory message they play when you land because no one died...
Don't congratulate yourself! I expect none death as a standard with my flight... (it is very cheap though)
