prep video

The artistic merit of your work is up to you, the only reason we will reject your film is on technical grounds.

Only professional dancers, dance students and dance companies should submit work.

Your video can be a maximum of 6 minutes in length.

You must fill in the SUBMIT FILM form before sending us your video for The Film Room.

Use only one of the three methods listed on the right to send us your video.

The video material must be yours to send in for publishing, don't send in someone else's work without asking them first. You may think it's nice surprise, they might hit you on the head with a salted kipper.

This is how your video will look when it's online.

This is by far the easiest way to get your work into The Film Room.

Send us your video material on a PAL, MiniDV tape.

Use a new tape not the one that's been lying in a drawer for two years.

If you want to add titles make sure they are in bold white text on a black background otherwise let us do it. Credits on the film won't be necessary.

If you are in the USA or some other part of the Americas then a DVD Data Disc is an easier way to send us material. Sorry, we can't process NTSC tape material.

We will do the rest.

This is the second easiest way to send us your 6 minute clip.

Export a copy of your film clip in QuickTime format from your editing software. If you didn't edit the material then ask the person who did to do it for you.

All editing programs (Final Cut Pro, Avid XPress, Premiere, iMovie, etc) can output full quality video files in QuickTime Format.

We will accept almost all broadcast Codecs, (DV-PAL, DV-NTSC, DVCPro, DV50, etc) HD Video is also fine.

Burn the file onto a standard DVD-R disc and mail it to Article19. We'll send the mailing address after you submit your information.

Do not burn a playable DVD movie as this will compress the video material, burn a DVD Data Disc.

We will do the rest.

If you are more technically minded then you can compress your video material yourself and send it to us using the internet.

For those of you that have never compressed a video file before please READ OUR ONLINE TUTORIALS which explain everything.

Add titles to the beginning. Make sure they are in bold white text on a black background.

For seasoned pro's just make sure your video is within our GUIDELINES for size, compression ratio and codec.

Once your video is ready then use one of the file transfer services below to send us a copy of the compressed video. Each service has a free version to send files with.

Send fully compressed files to film [at] article19.co.uk.

We will do the rest.
