There is very little in the way of press information for 'Uprising' and after you watch the show you realise there doesn't really need to be any.
If you enjoy your dance work with detailed choreography, excellent dancers and percussive music then this is the work for you. Hofesh Shechter is being commisioned to make work for companies all over the country and it's not hard to see why.
Adding excellent lighting to the mix and a spectacular venue (The Liverpool Empire) and you have the perfect recipe for one of the strongest pieces of work currently out there.
Hofesh has recently completed a commission for Scottish Dance Theatre and with two more commissions on their way for the International Dance Festival in Birmingham and CandoCo. Dance Company you can expect to see a lot more work with this type of attention to choreographic detail in the near future.
The press info does tell us the following;
"Seven men emerge from the shadows to bombard the stage with their edgy energy, bonding and sparring, making up and falling out. A highly charged short work with a propulsive, percussive score, Uprising leaves audiences buzzing."
Dancers: Bruno Karim Guillore, Christopher Evans, Leon Baugh, Gavin Coward, Elias Lazaridis, Young Jin Kim, Hofesh Shechter. With choreography and music by Hofesh Shechter.
The company performs next on 17th March at the Queens Theatre, Hornchurch, with 'deGENERATION' and then on 18th March at The Brewhouse, Taunton, with 'Uprising' and 'In your rooms'. Full touring details on the company's website.
