No Influence

Published Sunday, 1 January, 2006 |

"We would recommend Jasmin Varimon Company, Motionhouse or Charlotte Vincent for this year but you can pick who you want."

Fair enough, but what a shame that you you couldn't spell the name of one of your recommendations. But hey, apart from your excellent design, no one would ever accuse you of professionalism.

"Just remember, a vote for Random is a vote for the dark side and casting your ballot for the Ballet Boyz is just plain silly."

Typical Article19 unpleasantness - no wonder that your influence is SO limited. Shame, as there is a place for a change agent in Modern Dance, but your sarcastic approach will never change anything.

Recently the Los Angeles Times printed a story about wolves being re-introduced in certain areas of the United States and they quoted a state Governor saying something about "Federal Dogs" when in fact they meant feral dogs if the quote had, in fact, been real in the first place. Turns out it came from an April fools joke posted on the internet some time ago. It's a shame our fancy computers can't pick up spelling errors in people's names but what are we to do!

We are interested to know how you quantify or measure our 'influence'? Which of course you can't but asking is our job. We, nor any other publication, should seek to influence anything, only report information and make editorial comment when required. If you are accusing us of trying making fun of a worthless dance prize ceremony then guilty as charged.

Article19 is not unpleasant, Article19 is just having a lot more fun than you in show business and we don't know what a 'change agent' is but it sounds like somebody who works in the FBI's cloak room!
