Due to some technical hitches I haven’t been able to write for a couple of weeks, so I will attempt to cram a few entries in one!
Firstly the whole school is in preparation for our Christmas show, so the story is rehearse, rehearse, rehearse. Each teacher is choreographing on one year and there are bits and pieces in which the whole school comes together. We are all very involved in the process, and it is becoming a very personal piece. It is difficult to know how much I can divulge at this point so I shall just say that it- ‘is an exploration, a personal journey which endeavours to find relationships within time and space’ (no it isn’t!) Seriously, it is quite zany and crazy, and i! t uses speech in places which is really intimidating to do, and very hard for usually mute dancers to do convincingly!
Also the way the theatre is being used is interesting for the audience, although they have to stand for 45 minutes. I’m informed it’s a promenade performance dahling!
We are still doing class every day, although my ankle has still not recovered. Have found out that scar tissue has formed on my ligaments to heal them, but it is inflexible so I have to keep moving and massaging the joint until the tissue wears down and I have equally pointed feet again! Have decided keep smiling J and be sensible about it.
We were told today about our next project, which is collaboration with another artist, am v.v excited about this! Think I am going to work with film and possibly a director. There is a film school here in Dundee so I am going to try and cajole an unsuspecting student there to ‘collaborate’ with me! Also signed up for a computing/typing course here at the college because we get it free and my skills and attitude towards computers is appalling!
After an hour or so I get urges to throw them out of the nearest window. I think this is because I can’t control w! hat they do, and they always do things I don’t tell them like losing my 5000-word essay for instance! Still I’d better learn to control these urges- the class is for grown-ups!
