Springs Dance Company (UK)

Springs Dance Company is looking for 1 male dancer and 1 female dancer with outstanding ability in contemporary dance, sound professional training and substantial performance experience for a project in 2010. Initially contracts will be offered for the project only, but subsequently a contract for a core company member may be offered.

Five a Day is a high energy 55 minute show designed to inspire and challenge young people about positive choices. The dancer will need to be an exceptional performer with strong contemporary technique and physical theatre skills as w ell as having the aptitude to teach workshops to a range of abilities.

Rehearsals for Five a Day begin in April and the work will tour from May until September or October 2010 with some rest periods (likely to include July and August). More information about Five a Day is [ here ].

Journey of the Magi is a 90 minute dance theatre work for adults and all the family at Christmas time. This role requires character work and expressing and communicating contemporary Christian beliefs and values and therefore an ability to do this will be an advantage. Rehearsals will begin in October and the work will tour from 25 November til 24 December 2010.

Rehearsals for both projects will take place in the London area. Rehearsals and to uring will be part-time and rates of pay will be similar to Equity / ITC rates on a pro-rata basis.

Wired Aerial Theatre are seeking one new female company member to perform the role of Rosa in their latest outdoor touring production, 'Rosa's Bar'.

Skills and experience required: Experience in one or more of gymnastics, partnering (lifting and being lifted) and contact improvisation is a prerequisite for application.

We seek a dancer with great stage presence and experience in using theatre within dance performance.

Someone who realises and can adapt to the difference in performance when performing to an outdoor audience as oppose t o those in a theatre.

Rosa is animated, passionate; a little slap-stick at times and absolutely loves to dance in the air!

Experience of working in a harness is an advantage but not a necessity.

The successful applicant will have a 4 week period of training specifically in bungee-assisted dance work, before learning the existing role of Rosa for the show. In between festival performances we will extend the aerial training to involve vertical wall work. This will broaden your skill base and provide the opportunity to work with Wired on other productions in the future.

The audition will include full aerobic warm up, bungee-assisted dance class and aerial partnering, and theatrical play with movement improvisation.

Neshima Dance Company is looking for 4 male/female dancers and one apprentice to take part in their new project 'Dancing in Tongues' in Bristol. We are looking for strong/versatile dancers who have performance experience. Some teaching experience may be required.

Dancers will need to be confident in speaking; including text while dancing at times. The project will require dancers to input into the choreography, working closely with the director. Dancers will need to have strong improvisation and performance skills.

Dancing in Tongues will consist of two new dance pieces 'See What You Say' and 'Jigsaw'. The pieces will be highly physical, concentrating on the themes of language, communication and relationships.

Vex Dance Theatre (UK)

Vex Dance Theatre are currently looking for performers for our latest project Bluebird. Vex are looking for 4 versatile dancers/physical performers with strong movement and physical theatre technique.

Bluebird is funded by Bristol City Councils Single Project Fund 2009/10. It is a highly physical piece of dance theatre based on interviews collected from immigrants and refugees living in Bristol on their expectations and impressions of life in Britain. The project will enable the performers to be part of an innovative devising process where the people whose stories are being told will be part of the creative process.

Reactions to the Bluebird pilot project were very positive and we are excited to create the full length piece.

AUDITION DATE:
Sat 27th February, 10-4pm

The audition will take place at Tobacco Factory Theatre in the Brewery dance studio (Bristol). The audition will run in two x two hour slots. Short- listed candidates will then be asked to stay for a further session on Saturday afternoon.
