C-12 Dance Theatre is looking for highly physical and expressive professional male and female dancers with a minimum of 2 years professional experience for upcoming projects. Including two confirmed exciting outdoor productions.

Project 1: C-12 is looking for a lead male performer for their new outdoor production; The Van Man. Dancers must be trained in a variety of dance styles to a professional standard. Experience of urban dance theatre styles and parkour are preferable. Rehearsals are to take place in London and dancers must be available for all rehearsal and performance dates.

Rehearsal Dates: 20th-24th February, 5th-9th March, 12th-16th March, 26th/27th April

Performance Dates: 2nd/3rd May, 16th/17th June/ October and further dates to be confirmed

Fee: rehearsals are paid at equity rate and a performance day fee applies

Project 2: C-12 is looking for one female and two male dancers to work with Award winning Australian Choreographer, Shaun Parker, who will be choreographing a new outdoor work on C-12 Dance Theatre this spring entitled TROLLEYS. Dancers must be trained in a variety of dance styles to a professional standard, and experience of street dance, acrobatics and parkour are preferable. Applicants should have highly physical movement ability, break skills, good upper body strength, street gymnastics and be able to perform in a grungy acrobatic style. Rehearsals are to take place in London and dancers must be available for all rehearsal and performance dates.

Rehearsal Dates: 26th-30th March, 23rd-25th April, 7-11th May, 14th-18th May

Performance Dates: 18th/19th May, 30th June, 7th/8th July, 4th/5th August, 31st Aug/1st Sept, further dates to be added.

Project 3: C-12 is looking for a small number of male and female dancers to join the existing company, to be a part of various projects and performances over the next two year period.

Following the success of the 2011 tour, Maresa von Stockert is redeveloping and retouring the work for 2012 with dates in the UK, France and the Netherlands.  

Maiden Voyage (UK)

Maiden Voyage, a Belfast based dance company in Northern Ireland, is seeking four professional dancers (male/female) for a new work choreographed by Suzannah McCreight with composition by award-winning composer Brian Irvine.

This will be an eight-week paid contract from Mid April-Mid June and based in Belfast with potential for further work in company repertoire during 2012-13.

DanceXchange is seeking 1 male dancer to complete the company of 4 dancers (2 male, 1 female) for the production Spill. This quirky commission takes place outside in a park setting and needs a performer who is willing to work in a non-traditional theatre environment with experience, presence and confidence.

The dancer must have a strong contemporary technique with improvisation and contact skills, but also be versatile and have experience in street and break-dance styles.
Additional skills such as acrobatics, parkour, and free running are welcomed and can be used in this work, but only in addition to and not instead of the above requirements.

Candidates must have at least 3 years training in contemporary dance training, and at least 1 year performing/touring experience. In addition you must be available for the dates as listed below and be willing to move to Birmingham for the duration of the creation period.

Timeframe: Creation period: 2 April- 27 April 2012 (w/c 26 March tbc 4 or 5 weeks)
Touring period: 2 May - 21 May & 3 June - 15 July (B'ham and Humberside)

Payment: £425 per week. Accommodation provided in Birmingham (a shared self-catering apartment) for creation. Hotel accommodation + per diems (£20p/d) + travel expenses provided for touring.

For Appetite Dance Productions' latest production "Letter to My Father", ADP will be holding invitation only auditions to recruit 3 dancers (2 male and 1 female) who are open to new ways of working. One of the male dancers will be required to play the role of a middle-aged Father.

The artistic director/choreographer Apple Yang is seeking gifted dancers with strong technical and artistic training, who ideally are trained in Contemporary and Classical Chinese dance. The ability and willingness to learn and develop a range of dance techniques and styles are essential requirements.

Balbir Singh Dance Company (UK)

Balbir Singh Dance Company seeks male contemporary dancers for Decreasing Infinity. Balbir Singh, one of the UK's leading choreographers, specialises in a unique synthesis of contemporary and Kathak dance, in which live music is an integral feature of the work.

Decreasing Infinity, a male duet created by Balbir Singh, draws on both Kathak (a n orth Indian classical dance style) and contemporary dance. Starting in their purest forms, seen through abstract mirrors, the mutual attraction of two distinct forms brings them to a collision in which both cease to exist; rather, something new is formed. The dynamic male duet is accompanied by the intense rhythms of live tabla and human beatbox.

Decreasing Infinity has toured successfully around England and performed at both Dublin Dance Festival and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, where it featured as Guardian Pick of the Week. It will be performing at different festivals over the next two years, and forms part of a triple bill of BSDC works for international touring in 2013.

BSDC welcomes applications from professional dancers with a minimum of 3 years vocational training, regardless of style or previous Kathak experience. Selected applicants will be invited to audition.

Balbir Singh Dance Company seeks male and female dancers for large-scale water-based production Synchronised, a flagship performance project commissioned by imove as part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad.

Synchronised is an ambitious and innovative concept, bridging sport and art through synchronised swimming and Indian Kathak dance. This three-year project will culminate in a high profile production featuring professional dancers and synchronised swimmers alongside community performers, to coincide with the 2012 Olympic Ga mes.

Balbir Singh, one of the UK's leading choreographers, specialises in a unique synthesis of contemporary and Kathak dance, in which live music is an integral feature of the work. Balbir will collaborate with former Olympian Heba Abdel Gawad, who competed in the Sydney and Athens Games, in the creation of the water-based spectacular Synchronised.

Vex DanceTheatre lead by Artistic-Director Jess McCormack, are currently looking for performers for their latest project CATHY COME HOME to be performed at Arnolfini Bristol in May 2012. Vex are looking for 4 versatile dancers/physical performers. Performers must have strong contemporary technique, acting ability and experience in devising and improvisation.

Jess' work focuses on how a choreographer might respond to written/spoken text and the workshop will involve dancing/talking/improvising/making and responding to ideas from spoken interviews/script.

Vex will also be looking for 2 Apprentice Dancers (students/recent graduates) interested in a work experience placement 26th April - 11th May 2012. The apprentice dancers will have the opportunity to understudy the performers. This is an unpaid role (expenses covered).

Audition Date: Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th February, 10-5pm. The audition will run in two x 3 hour slots on Saturday 18th. Short- listed candidates will then be asked to stay for a further session on Sunday 19th. The audition will be held at Arnolfini Bristol and all location and time details will be sent out with invitation to workshop.

Key dates: 11th April 2012-11th May 2012 - Devising rehearsal and performance dates (Bristol) (5 days rehearsals p/w).

Flat fee for contract 11th April-11th May 2012: a minimum of £1,200(any further touring of the piece will be paid on top).
