Here goes..... This isn't really a great time for me to be starting, because the last couple of days, I've been sitting out of class thanks to my good old, dodgy knee. A trip to the physio is now definately on the cards! Hopefully, it won't be bad news! (fingers crossed!)
Anyway, enough of the complaining! Last Thursday, saw a group of 'Space Cadets(!)' travel to Edinburgh, for a class with Retina Dance Company. It was some serious 'feel the movement' stuff, but some of the sequences we were doing were really cool! Cat, my fellow Blogger, I'm sure will go into muchos more detail, because she really loved it! It was definitely her style of moving!
Back to the here and now, one of our tutors is unfortunately unwell, so last week, and the week ahead, we've got Hamel who used to teach at Northern, but doesn't really teach anymore because of injury! His classes are great! I don't think I've sweated so much after 2 exercises in my life! He is really full on, and I don't think anyone dares give less that 150%! Outside of the studio though, he is a really friendly guy!
I've got loads lots stuff coming up this term though! My class are currently in production for a small school's tour! It originally has a 'Big Brother/Reality TV' theme, but now it's focussed in on perception, and the way you put yourself out there to people! Cue the gestures and funny faces! It's been fun so far, and I'm sure it's going to be successful! When we finish the School's Tour, it's straight into our site-specific project. This gives us 2nd years the chances to create dance piece in and around our fancy new building! It also gives us the chance to work with the 1st years, as our dancers! I'm really looking forward to that! I'm not going to give any of my ideas away yet though! You'll just have to be patient (and come see the performance!)
